Arrowhead Plant Care

Also known as Arrow Plant and Arrowhead Vine, this houseplant is perfect for areas with low light.

Light – Low to moderate light. Arrowhead can handle brighter light levels, but should be kept out of direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorching.

Water – Water once the top inch of soil it dry. Do not let Arrowhead dry out completely.

Soil – Moist, well-draining soil. If soil is drying out too quickly, add vermiculite to increase water retention or water more frequently.

Temperature – Keep the temperature between 65° and 75°. Don’t expose to temperatures below 50° and protect Arrowhead from drafts.

Humidity – Arrowhead does well in average home humidity levels, though it will thrive in higher humidity. Regular misting, a nearby humidifier or a tray of pebbles and water are all easy ways to increase humidity.

Fertilization – Fertilize monthly spring through fall with a balanced fertilizer, like Bonide Liquid Plant Food. There is no need to fertilize in winter.

Size – Averages about 15 inches long. Growth begins upright, but once stems reach about 6 inches, they’ll start trailing down the side of their container.

Repotting – Repot every 1 to 2 years. Select a container with good drainage and no more than 2 sizes larger than the current pot. Arrowhead does well in hanging containers as well as standard pots.

Propagation – Easily propagated via stem cuttings. Select stems that have begun growing aerial roots (roots above the soil surface).

Toxicity – Mildly toxic to people and pets if ingested. Sap may cause skin irritation.
