Compatable and Combative Plant

When planning a vegetable and herb garden, it helps to know which plants are beneficial to plant together and which ones can harm each other.

Compatible Plants are plants that benefit each other when they are planted together and do not interfere with each other’s growth. Benefits can be pest repellant properties, adding nutrients to soil or requiring minimal space.

Combative Plants are plants that will interfere with each other’s growth and if planted together can result with one or both plants failing. Combative properties can include using up key nutrients, attracting pests, needing too much water, requiring too much space or invasive qualities.
